My mother-in-law is always asking me to make her things “pretty”. That’s what she says, “I need you to make this pretty.” She claims not to be good at it, but I have seen some pretty impressive gift wrap and handmade bows originate with her. Despite that she asked me to make her some labels for her spice jars and I have to say they were in need. Today was an easy makeover project for those spice jars and I am so pleased with how they turned out.

The good thing about a shallow drawer is it is the perfect size for a wide mouth mason jar. We live pretty close to a neat little Mennonite-owned bulk food store. We love to get our spices there to keep our pantry stocked. We fill those little mason jars to the brim with all of our goodies. This is a super easy project that can be done in less than an hour.

To make things really easy, I started out by making a spreadsheet of all the spices then sorting them in alphabetical order. After that using mail merge in Avery templates was a jiffy. Of course you could use any other program you like, but Avery templates online is just so easy and quick so I used that.

Materials needed:

    • Computer
    • Program with mail merge
