Pumpkin Dump Cake

This Pumpkin Dump Cake is the most delicious fall dessert EVER, and you need to try it ASAP! It’s literally fall in a baking dish, and I promise it’ll have your house smelling like a cozy autumn dream. Plus, it’s so ridiculously easy, you’ll barely have to lift a finger. No fancy steps or hours in the kitchen – just dump, bake, and enjoy!

You know it can get a little hectic in my life both on and off the farm and sometimes I just didn’t have the energy to go all out on a big dessert. Hello pumpkin dump cake. My husband’s roommate used to bring this home when he’d visit his mama back in college. I was always so excited when he brought home “Viv Dog’s” pumpkin dessert. This is just like hers except I use butter and I think her recipe called for a bottle of squeezable Parkay. Either way you do it, you’ll love it!  It is buttery, spicy, and decadent – like eating a slice of heaven with a side of pumpkin spice. 😍

What You Need:

  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling, you know the difference 😉)
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (or more if you’re feeling spicy!)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted (the more butter, the better, right?)
  • A sprinkle of chopped pecans (optional but YUM)

How to Make This Magic Happen:

  1. Preheat that oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix up the pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, and cinnamon. It’ll smell like heaven already.
  3. Dump that pumpkin mixture into the baking dish. This is the best part – no extra dishes!
  4. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top. Trust me, don’t mix it – the magic happens when it’s all layered.
  5. Drizzle that glorious melted butter all over the top. It’s going to seep down and make the cake topping all crispy and buttery. 😋
  6. If you’re feeling fancy, sprinkle some chopped pecans on top for a little crunch.
  7. Bake for about 50-60 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy. Your kitchen will smell AMAZING.

  • 1 9x13 pan greased

Ingredients
  

  • 16 0z Pumpkin NOT pumpkin pie filling
  • 1 can Evaporated Milk
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar don't forget (sometimes I do and it MATTERS)
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon I usually don't measure this honestly
  • 1 cup Melted Butter
  • 1 box Yellow Cake Mix DO NOT MAKE
  • Chopped Nuts optional but delicious

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350
  • In a bowl mix the pumpkin, eggs, evaporated milk, cinnamon and sugar
  • Spread evenly into bottom of greased 9x13 pan
  • Sprinkle the cake mix powder (do not make the cake) over the top of the pumpkin mixture
  • Drizzle the melted butter all over the top of the cake mix powder and can add nuts here if using
  • Bake for 55-60 mins or until a fork inserted into the cake mix part comes out clean.

That’s it!! Serve it up warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. I like to make a little cinnamon whipped cream with my whipped cream wizard,  prepare for your taste buds to go wild. 💁‍♀️
