I am constantly searching for the perfect gift. It makes gift giving so much fun to put thoughtful consideration into each and every gift. Now my big boy is in preschool I get to add a new gift recipient to my list. His AMAZING teacher. I was racking my brain to think of something original and nice. Mrs. Terry (my mother-in-law) gave me the perfect idea. A Christmas Pillowcase, or in this case two.
She is the seamstress not me. She has also been perfecting her french seam technique as I mentioned in my previous post about the bread bags. She found this post on Pinterest and went to town. I never would’ve thought of this. I seriously couldn’t have been happier when she suggested it. It was different, it was useful, it was festive. It was perfect.
Even better it was something my son could help with. He thought about which fabric combo he wanted, he carefully helped guide each pillowcase through the presser foot as he sat on his Mimi’s lap. He helped me wrap them and tie the ribbon. He was very proud of his work and VERY excited to give them away.
My favorite part of this present was how much joy he got from giving it away. He loved his project with his Mimi and he loved his teacher’s reaction. His Mimi is a retired teacher so I think she had a pretty good idea of what might make a teacher happy. I agree. She had a great idea!
